STUDSEMIOTICDAY 2025 – Development

The International Day of Students Studying Semiotics #STUDSEMIOTICDAY was held on June 30, 2025. This holiday was established in 2021 by the International Center for Semiotics and Intercultural Dialogue under the leadership of Associate Professor Inna Merkoulova.
In 2025, the event was dedicated to the theme "Development". The theme was chosen specifically, since this year the projects of the International Center for Semiotics are held under the auspices of the UNESCO Program "International Decade of Sciences for Sustainable Development (2024-2033)".
In the video #STUDSEMIOTICDAY – Development, master's students of the Faculty of History of the State Academic University for the Humanities, students of the special course in semiotics by Inna Merkoulova, share their impressions of the article by Yuri Mikhailovich Lotman "Technological Progress as a Cultural Problem".

Also in the video format, Professor of Istanbul University Nedret Öztokat Kiliçeri talks about development and progress from the point of view of semiotics and mythology (fragment of the conversation between I. Merkоulova and N. Öztokat in the Library of Foreign Literature).
A historical view of development, scientific, technological and semiotic revolutions, the predictability and unpredictability of social changes, the role of artificial intelligence in our lives - these are just some of the issues that were discussed during #STUDSEMIOTICDAY-2025.
